Lo Scorbutico is certainly an exceptional wine, produced only in the best vintages and from a careful selection of grapes from our estates in Greti and Montefioralle. It is made 100% from Teroldego Toscano, a grape variety that, due to its agronomic “scorbutic” nature, gives this wine its name.
Geographical indication: Tuscany

A grape variety that comes from the North, which, when it grows at higher altitudes, turns its “canopy” to the other side, becoming “scorbutic,” the difficult agronomic adaptation in a territory where it was unknown, and the determination of our Founder in “taming” it—these are all phases that turned a gamble, like planting Teroldego in Chianti Classico, into a winning bet.
The story of this wine begins far back, a story of passions, challenges overcome, and bets won—all contained in a “simple” bottle of wine.
This wine was born from our Founder’s desire to bet on a grape variety that had always fascinated him during his vacations in Trentino Alto Adige. It then involved a long search for the best vine stocks and the waiting for the vineyards to grow in our estate in Montefioralle, facing all the agronomic challenges of adapting this grape variety to a new and different territory.
Teroldego immediately proved to be a “wild animal” with difficult agronomic management, especially in the initial planting phase. However, over the years and harvests, it reached its stability, producing grapes of great value. These were initially used for the creation of our first wine, Mamba Nero, where it was paired with Sangiovese, a bold and lively wine.
From this came the intuition of our Founder: to create a wine where this grape variety could express all its potential, derived from an exceptional terroir and the expert work of our winemaker, Daniele Innocenti. Thus, Lo Scorbutico was born, a wine with long aging in stainless steel tanks, named after the characteristic of this grape variety to “turn its canopy” in August, turning its back before harvest. In the first vintage available on the market, about 1,000 bottles were produced.
The wine presents a ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, the aromas of violet and red fruit stand out, but the tertiary scents are also clearly noticeable, such as spices, particularly pepper. On the palate, it is definitely balanced with notable structure, offering a rich and satisfying sip. This wine pairs perfectly with pasta dishes in rich sauces, as well as with roasts, game, and slow-cooked meats.
